Welcome to the new year, it’s a fresh start with a whole bunch, of potential. For those of us in faith, it’s a clean sheet, the past behind us we have an opportunity to build a new life for us this year. Forget about where you have been for a few minutes and focus right now on who you will be this year, lets reflect on your purpose, the reason you are in this life at this time. If today’s reflection creates a little traction in your life, then come back tomorrow and add to the momentum.

Over the next few days, we will have a look at this section of the book…

Romans 8:14-17

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

“14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.”

I have lost count of the many times someone has told me how much I resemble my father. At times this makes me very proud, at other times I cringe a little.

I have noticed this in adopted sons as well, even sons born of different nationalities and cultures of the father who raised them, tend to take on the mannerisms and values of their adopted father.

In as much as I am proud that the spirit of my paternal father dwells within me, I am striving daily to take on the traits of my spiritual father, his wisdom, judgement and grace.

To do this we must study his ways and spend time in his presence. That’s what these discussions are all about.
